2001
Pathways launches in Regent Park, Toronto
The Regent Park Community Health Centre led the development of the program, working with youth, parents, and educators to understand the barriers students faced and what they needed to succeed. At the heart of the program was a vision of breaking the cycle of poverty through education and nurturing the next generation of community leaders.
2007
First major expansion
Four new Ontario locations open in Lawrence Heights (Toronto), Rexdale (Toronto), Kitchener, and Ottawa, alongside the first Quebec location in Verdun (Montréal).

Program Partner: Toujours Ensemble
When Pathways Verdun opened, it marked the program’s first expansion beyond Ontario.

2009–2010
Expansion across Ontario, the Prairies and Atlantic Canada
New programs launch in Hamilton, Scarborough Village (Toronto), Spryfield (Halifax), Winnipeg, and Kingston.

Pathways Winnipeg – Est. 2010
Program Partner: Community Education Development Association (CEDA)
Pathways Winnipeg was designed for the city’s North End, home to one of the largest urban Indigenous populations in the country.

Establishing a coast-to-coast presence
New locations open in Shawinigan, Pointe-Saint-Charles, Sherbrooke, Mashteuiatsh, Lachine, Vancouver, and Saint John.

Pathways Vancouver and Surrey – Est. 2014
Program Partner: Pacific Community Resources Society (PCRS)
Located in the city’s Downtown Eastside and Strathcona neighbourhoods, the program serves a densely populated community where students live close to a wide range of services, yet dedicated youth spaces remain limited.

Reaching more young people
A new location in Saskatoon expands support for Indigenous youth, while the Vancouver program extends into Surrey.
2020
A major year of growth
Five new Quebec locations open in Gatineau, Joliette, Laval, Longueuil and Québec City, while a new program opens in Edmonton in partnership with Indigenous-led program Braided Journeys.

Pathways Matapédia – Est. 2021
Program Partner: Commission Jeunesse Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine
Pathways Matapédia, one of the newest program locations, opened during the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic. Its successful launch amid significant uncertainty was made possible by strong regional partnerships and the support of experienced Pathways locations in Quebec.
